Our Story
BTO Foundation for Environment and Climate Action was created with one clear belief — real environmental change starts when global vision meets local action. The foundation was established to close the gap between environmental policies and the realities faced by communities across Africa.
From the beginning, our work has focused on practical, science-based interventions that help people adapt to climate change, restore degraded ecosystems, reduce pollution, and build sustainable livelihoods. We combine research, education, and hands-on community engagement to make environmental responsibility something everyone can participate in.
Though young, BTO Foundation has already delivered impactful projects — from school environmental programs and community waste recovery campaigns to wetland restoration and climate-smart agricultural initiatives. These early successes reflect our commitment to measurable, community-driven solutions that protect both people and the planet.
What We Do
Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation
We work with communities to build resilience against floods, drought, erosion, and heatwaves through sustainable land use and local climate action planning.
Environmental Education & Awareness
We equip schools and communities with the knowledge to understand climate issues and take responsibility for their environment through workshops and awareness campaigns.
Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems
We promote eco-friendly farming methods that protect soil health, improve yields, and help farmers adapt to changing weather patterns.
Waste Management & Circular Economy
Through recycling, composting, and waste-to-wealth programs, we turn waste into opportunities for income and cleaner communities.
Ecosystem Restoration & Wetland Conservation
We restore degraded lands, wetlands, and watersheds to improve biodiversity, prevent flooding, and protect vital natural resources.
Renewable Energy & Clean Technology
We support the adoption of solar, biogas, and clean-energy solutions to reduce dependence on fossil fuels in rural and peri-urban communities.
